Dr. Aaron Hitefield is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration. His research and teaching focus on American politics, congress, the presidency, parties and elections, representation, political behavior, and research methods. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Georgia in 2022. Before joining MSU in the Fall of 2025, he held a position as an Assistant Professor at Whitworth University.
His current research explores topics including nationalization in American elections, campaign finance, public expectations of congress and the presidency, and uses of presidential power, etc. To date, his work has been published in outlets such as American Politics Research and the Forum, among others
