Welcome to MSU and the Department of Political Science and Public Administration (PSPA). Our department offers Ph.D. and MPPA degrees in public administration and BA and MA degrees in political science. We are happy you'll join the approximately 250 undergraduate and 100 graduate students who are majoring in political science and public administration.

The PSPA team has 18 faculty members, including four women, two African-Americans and one African. Our professors are well known for award-winning teaching, significant funded and unfunded research and active publishing. We pride ourselves on being open and accessible to students. Graduate and undergraduate students receive national recognition for accomplishments in public administration and political science while at MSU.

The department prepares graduate students for full membership in the academic community. Research and mentoring are an integral part of the graduate program, leading to student participation in regional and national professional meetings and scholarly publication. A high percentage of our undergraduates pursue further education in law or graduate degrees.

Students also take part in research and internship opportunities. Many undergraduates and graduates complete internships in the state of Mississippi and in Washington, D.C. Click on the links to the right to learn more about PSPA programs.
