The Starkville Dispatch featured several PSPA graduate students recently in various stories.
Ph.D. student Nick Wilson gave input about Starkville's proposed municipal center along with Dr. Bethany Stich. They both serve on the city's Municipal Complex Committee, which aims to gather public input about the proposed project and weigh different interests.
Dr. Jody Holland, postdoctoral associate and PSPA instructor, was featured in a story about the proposed revitalization of the C&G rail line. Holland presented his research at the Mississippi Association of Political Science's annual conference Nov. 6 at Mississippi University for Women.
Doctoral student Stephanie Pink told reporters about the importance of Main Street associations in terms of economic revitalization. She presented research at the conference about the success of Main Street programs such as Columbus.
MPPA student Tiffany Hamlin presented research about the obstacles Mississippi disabled drivers face when getting driver's licenses. Hamlin experienced this firsthand when it took her six years to complete the process. Check out her story.
Starkville's Transportation Committee—including Dr. Bethany Stich— made the news once again in the ongoing sidewalk debate. The committee works with citizens to gather feedback as the sidewalk ordinance continues to take shape.
Congratulations to all the department's successful students and their impacts in helping shape policy in Mississippi and beyond!
